Looks like this may have been a simple mistake, and never hurts to check your receipt before you leave. Had ordered bogo snails and two full banh mi, flavors that I had missed after recent travels to Vietnam and it was able to conjure up the nostalgia.
This is my favourite place to get banh mi in San Jose. My go-to is the #1 dac biet mama house, which is loaded with cha (vietnamese ham), jambon, gio thu (head cheese), ham, cha bong heo (pork meat floss), and your usual pickled daikon and carrots, cucumber, cilantro, jalapeno, pate and bo (Vietnamese butter/mayo). I like that they cut your sandwiches in half for you, making it easier to eat and for sharing. However, if you don't want it cut, just let the staff know. They are made with their fresh baguettes and they even stay good the next day. We also got their pate, which you can buy on its own in a small container. They also sell other foods as well.
This is my go-to spot for banh-mi and bread in the area. Having been raised in Europe, I have a discerning palate when it comes to bread, and this place hits the mark. While their bread may not be traditional French style, it is undeniably delicious. Among my favorite banh-mis are the #1 Dac biet Mama House, #2 Grilled pork with fried eggs, #4 Grilled Beef, and #8 Sardine. I used to enjoy the #10 shredded chicken, but they recently replaced it with dried chicken jerky which was a bit disappointing. While not all staff members speak English fluently, they are always friendly and eager to assist. Do double-check your order before leaving though, as there have been a few instances of miscommunication resulting in incorrect/missing items. However, these occurrences are infrequent enough that they don't significantly impact my overall experience.
My Vietnamese friend told me about this place when I said I was in the mood for Banh mi. Such a cute little shop. The workers were very nice and the food quality was excellent. That little sandwich hit the spot! I'll definitely be back.
Love the service. It's bright, organized, clean, and the fact that they accept phone orders and cards. Gavin and I came this past Saturday to get 2 cha lua (steamed pork roll) and 2 banh mi. We were not eating meat that day, so we asked if they offer vegetarian options. They do and both were so delicious. It was xa xiu (pictured) chay and a ga nuong chay. I will say that their cha lua is very good, but Duc Huong still tops the list. Both of their banh mi chay (vegetarian banh mi) were inhaled by both me and Gavin in a matter of seconds. To be frank, we did eat half of a banh mi those times so technically it wasn't gluttonous. Cannot wait to return.
Super cute place with very friendly service. I loooove that they offer tropical fresh fruits. On numerous occasions we've gotten good quality mangosteens here where other fruit shops are offering much older/inferior quality mangosteens. The Banh mi was yummy too! Will definitely be back.
I love the mom and pops storefront and as soon as you walk in -- you could feel a great sense of family and community. The nice ladies running the front of the house have a great sense of urgency and move the lines quickly and efficiently. We did some grocery shopping next door so stopped in for a sandwich and coffee as I was beginning to feel hungry. The menu boards feature a variety of Banh Mi and there are lots of party tray options available also (note taken for my next potluck invite!). Aromas from the freshly baked bread envelopes your senses as soon as you walk through the doors, and I'm here for it! Banh Mi was good. Looking forward to returning in the near future.
Just don't know what to say about this place, it's beyond the 5stars!!! Every time I come here, never go out without handful stuffs, I just get so addicted to this place! Foods and Fruits are fresh and delicious with good and reasonable prices! Customer service is always friendly and helpful! The place is new in town, so it's clean and the set-up is so attractive that's why I always grab something before leaving it's dangerous
